There is a IE 6 update 871260 that looks like an update that has already been
done
UNLESS YOU READ MORE .....

"Subsequent to the release of this security bulletin, Microsoft was made
aware that the update provided for Windows XP customers running the new
version of Windows Update, Windows Update Version 5, did not contain the
final release code for the vulnerabilities addressed in the security
bulletin. Microsoft has corrected the update and is re-releasing this
bulletin to advise of the availability of a revised update available to
Windows Update Version 5 customers. Customers who are utilizing Windows
Update Version 4, the vast majority of customers, are not affected by this
revision"

This should be on the front page but is easy to miss as this update was
released in the same month as WU v5 (and XP SP2 !) - I would say now that the
vast majority of customers are now using WU v5 and not v4 as stated.

I suggest if WU v5 doesnt work - download this update and try again - this
fixed my problems and our 15 clients through ISA 2000

Please post if this fixes your problem
Neil

I'm curious as to where your quote comes from.

Rollup update for IE browser, 871260, covers not just version 6, but 2 older versions of IE 5.x.
So in and of itself, its quite a package. It does seem to me it came out sometime in July 2004.
