I am having some problems with Windows Update (v5 'Consumer') on my Windows
XP SP2 machine.

When I go into Windows Update, I see in the "News" section:
"Windows XP users: new security updates are now available for SP1 and SP2
only"

I also looked into my Windows version dialog and it says:
"Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158 : Service Pack 2)"

My computer was biuilt by the PCMedic store in my town, and I think they
might have used the Windows XP Recovery Disk from my old computer to install
it and then used Windwos Update to put in SP2 but I'm not sure....

Mark, what kind of problems are you having? My System Info says the
same thing.

I'm not having any problems, actually. I'm just concerned that the nes
section says:
Windows XP users: new security updates are now available for SP1 and SP2 only
What can you do now to ensure that you get Service Pack 2?
What to know before you install Windows XP Service Pack 2

Although it seems that my last update was on March 11th or something like
that ... sorry for bugging you like that... Maybe it should be changed so
anybody who is still using pre-sp2 beta will see that message, and anyone who
is using SP1 or SP2-rtm should see a diffrent message....
Also, I heard of the WU v6 beta and it's going to be changed to "Microsoft
Update"....

Mark, I think all that means is if you are one that hasnt installed SP1 and
now SP2 the individual updates will not be available but only packaged with
SP1 and SP2
