WUAU22.MSI Doesnt work on Win2K or XP

Downloaded this file, and it will not run on neither a
corporate laptop or a tower. One has Win2K SP4 and the
other has WinXP SP1. Error says Microsoft Windows Update
AutoUpdate requires Windows 200 SP2 or Windows XP.

Are the exact service packs a must for proper operation?

Hi

SP1/2 for WinXP and SP3/4 for Win2k installs the WU/SUS client as
default, and the separate WU/SUS client (WUAU22.msi) is not needed and
will not install (it gives the misleading error message that you
mention if you try). So, if you have WinXP SP1/2 and/or Win2k SP3/4
clients, the only thing you need to do is to configure them to point
to your SUS server to get started.
