What is the URL in the Address bar when this happens?
I'm don't use your OS but I know that some versions of it
may still be using WUv4 instead of WUv6.
That would make a difference for the name of the log file involved.
E.g. Windows Update.log if WUv4; WindowsUpdate.log otherwise.
I'd try renaming those; a new one should be created the next time
you try using WU.
