wupdate

I have a problem with my wupdate. I try to start Adobe
Photo Deluxe but won't start. I go to the task manager and
there will be a file 'wupdate (not responding)'. When I
close that file my Photo Deluxe will then start. What is
Wupdate and do I need it? If not, how do I get rid of it?
