Error Number: 0x80072EE4
Quote http://update.microsoft.com/microsof...ult.aspx?In=en *The
website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying
to view.*

Have been getting this with some frequency for four months as an incorrect
opening page. Meanwhile, my XP SP2 IE6 is set on auto-updates and does so
faithfully on every monthly Microsoft critical patch day up to including this
month's of March 2006. Can anyone tell me what the problem is, and if there
is indeed a problem to be concerned about?

Many Thanks, JD.

Check your proxy settings

ERROR_INTERNET_INTERNAL_ERROR
0x80072EE4
System-wide proxy settings corrupt.

How the Windows Update client determines which proxy server to use to connect to the Windows Update
Web site
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=900935

Also check
1. Click Start > click Control Panel
2. Click Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options, and then click Date and Time
3. Select the Date & Time tab
4. Check to make sure that the date and time settings are configured to use the current date and
time, and then click OK
To check the language setting in Internet Explorer:
1. Click "Tools" and then choose "Internet Options"
2. Click the "Languages" button
3. Make sure at least one language is listed in the "Language Options" dialog.
