WUS software not working

When I go to the Windows Update page it says we are checking to see if you
have the latest version of our WUS software. Now initially the version on my
newly built system was old so when it came back with install the latest
version I happily clicked the Install button. However now, when I go to the
Windows Update page it starts (as usual) with the "We're checking to see..."
and then does nothing. What is going on and more importantly how do I fix it?

Do you have a pop-up blocker? I've noticed whenever I go to the website, I
sometimes have to hold down the control key to get the information to come
up. I ALWAYS have to do this when it is "Checking for latest version..." I
usually hold down the control key while I hit refresh.

Just a suggestion that works for me....

Thanks for your suggestion. I gave it a try and unfortunately it didnt work.
Do you, or anybody else, have any other suggestions?

Also, if you have Windows XP SP2 installed, check that the
WuWebControlClass is enabled in Internet Explorer:
