www connection

A friend of mine is using vista and connects with a solwise router..His
problem is that the connection is very tenuous and he often has to shut
down and reboot several times before he can connect...He has been
advised by a technician ath the place where he bought the router that he
has "spyware" on his box and that was causing the problem and he should
get a prog that would remove this spyware...This seems very strange to
me but I know nothing about M/S products...Can someone please advise me
on if there is a free prog to clean the spyware off his hdd ?

There have been some connectivity issues with Vista but spyware is a
possibility. Is this a wireless router because some wireless cards /
drivers are not great for Vista either. There have been a couple of
laptops mentioned here recently that have shown similar problems and
it's turned out to be their wireless cards. A swap fixed the problem.

Presumably we've tried the usual power down the router stuff etc...

Thanks for the reply...He has gone through the power on/off to no avail
I might lend him my wired router to try and see if that cures it ..

Yeah, I was a bit surprised by the network card issue, you tend to think
that they either work of do not work and don't expect them to work for
ten minutes one day, 20 the next and not at all the day after. That
being said I suppose it could be something in "Vista" or the driver or
whatever where the individual component is just a bit "Less tolerant",
usually doesn't happen so much with digital devices though unless there
some "Timing" issue.

Good luck anyway, I think a component swap or bypass is a good way to
proceed.
