Is anyone else having problems with the X-Fi XtremeGamer sound card and
Vista? For some reason, every time I log in, the Windows Vista Start up
sound starts to snap, crackle and pop. I have installed the latest
drivers, disabled the on board sound and have the latest drivers. I
have sent my sound card back to Creative a number of times but everyone
they have sent me back does exactly the same thing. Any ideas guys?

Look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Fi

Under Sound Issues with Crackling and Popping

I set mine to Audio Creation Mode and turned on Bit Matched Playback and it
fixed it
