Xerox Docuprint P1210 permanently printing in economode

I have installed Xerox Docuprint P1210 on Vista (32-bit) on a Dell machine
useing USB port (Dell does not have a parallel or serial port (I was
surprised). It installs OK but regardless of the settings it seems to print
in economode (draft quality). If set to 300x300 resolution print has
slightly more contrast. I have tried changing print processor, printing
'raw' as well as 'text'.

Any thoughts?

Xerox Support ?

Blood will come out of stone before they respond. I have 2 Xerox printers -
have mailed queries over to them but they never respond except to point to
some part of their website and then round and round we go.
