Xp 1 update

Pleas help! After downloading Xp pack1 error message reads corrupt and
unreadable file C:\$Mft, run Chckdsk. I do this but nothing happens and error
remains.I have also now lost my page file system!

Why are you downloading service pack 1 when service pack 2 is out?
