XP 32 to Vista 64

I have XP Pro 32 bit and a 64bit capabable processor. I was wondering if I'd
be able to purchase a 64bit Vista upgrade and well, upgrade to the newer,
higher bit OS.

You are better off with the 32 bit version, unless you have a particular
reason to utilise 4 Gig of RAM. Compatible Drivers for a lot of things are
not available in Vista 64 bit.

You can't upgrade from 32-bit Windows to 64-bit Windows, you'd have to do a
clean install.

Several recent posts have indicated that the 'upgrade' package will do a
clean install.

yup, clean install with the upgrade disk, don't enter your product key, once
installed then do a repair install then enter in your cd key, heard of this
a few months back

Correct but it's still a clean install with means none of your previous
files, settings, etc. will be retained, the only thing gained by the
upgrade package is a reduced price which is certainly worthwhile.
