XP crashes after latest MS Update

my windows XP crashes after i install the latest downloadable update, to the
extent that I could not run any programs even in safe mode, it would just
freeze up. now I am running off a backup hardrive, i want to remove the
update but Im not sure how, and now for some reason on this backup drive I
cant seem to log into my hotmail account to see my mail. any help would be
greatly appreciated!

I am sorry you are hitting this issue, and I certainly understand why you
wrote to this newsgroup over this problem, as the cause seemed to be Windows
Update. However, the search, recognition, download, and installation of
Windows updates seemed to be working on your computer, just not afterwards.
