Same problem... However I resolved it by:
Clearing cookies, cache (including offline content) files and history from
Internet Explorer.
Stopped the Automatic Update service.
Renamed C:\windows\SoftwareDistribution directory to SoftwareDistribution_OLD
Started the Automatic Update service. Service will rebuild the
c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution directory and files.
Ran WindowsUpdate again, and now it found my 12 missing updates. Why the
\SoftwareDistribution datastore has been corrupted in the first place, God
only knows...
