SP2 was installed (automatically) and now the IE doesn't allow browsing even
thou the connection to the isp is good. OE also doesn't work. I un-installed
SP2 and I'm still having an issue. What is it that I need to do to get me
back to problem free surfing? System restore will not restore to any restore
point or checkpoint. This really frustrating....

SP2 automatically turns ON internet firewall. If this inst set up correctly
it will stop you from reaching the outside world.
My suggestion is turn OFF the firewall to prove you can get back onto the
net and then look for answers on how to set it up correctly.

Thanks for the reply....I did turn off this firewall and my norton firewall
and it still has the problem. Further, I de-installed SP2...
AND, becuse I bought the computer with XP Home edition pre-installed I have
to buy another copy IF I decide to reload over the top. What a bunch of
crap....

No online help, phone help that cost $$ for an issue that was
"automatically" installed....
