I just wish to share a few thoughts on vista after spending 2 days
reformatting my hp-media center, reinstalling mce2005 from the hp recovery
discs and following hp instuctions from their website i used diskpart in the
command prompt to clean install vista home premium upgrade edition,so now i
have both operating systems working on my computer in dual boot mode.
Wow what a joy it is to use xp again,i can not believe what i missed, vista
is so much hard work for a home user, here are a few things iv`e come across:-
Bluetooth:- i tried everything to get my vista compatible dongle to work
properly,no chance, the nokia i have would not even be recognised .
I boot into xp, i put the bluetooth dongle in a usb port and EVERYTHING
works perfect ,all i had to do was click on allow, ok 4 times. The bluetooth
symbol appears immediately in control panel and wow it recognises my phone
straight away, im sending files back and forth within 2 minutes, yet in vista
no chance.
Every day using only vista i had a problem, minor ones but they took for ever
to sort out,in xp it just does the job a computer is meant to do for the home
user.
I have 2gb of ram and an intel core 2 processor, vista is oh so slow compared
to xp,i can`t really believe how much hard work vista is.
I wrote in here a few days ago that i needed help with my hp personal media
drive not being recognised in vista,i boot into xp it works perfect,i boot
into vista ...nothing,not recognised.
I know people say oh but xp was like that when it first came out, vista is
ten times worse than that.
When you actually look at it,what is different in vista for the home user?
It has a search facility,it has 3D flip, better designed start menu for all
progs, winmail, but what else, xp has wmp11,ie7,the same as vista.
In conclusion im keeping the dual boot as im pleased that i used an oem
recovery disk set and an upgrade version to clean install and they both
work, but until microsoft seriously improve vista im sticking with the easy
home computing method of xp.
