XP Mode: Phantom windows left behind by Google Chrome

I'm attempting to run Google Chrome in XP Mode under W7 x64. Everything
works fairly well, except that after closing tabs in Chrome, I end up
with large blue squares on my desktop approximately the size of the
Chrome window when I closed the tab.

When I attempt to close the entire VM (shutting the system down, or
opening it in normal mode instead of "invisible" mode) I get a warning
that several applications are left open, and a list of the titles of the
tabs that I closed.

Anyone else seen similar? Any clues as to how to avoid this, or how to
kill these phantom windows off once they exist?

I found a partial workaround, vmsal.exe manages the seamless
applications, so killing it kills the phantoms.

If I then launch any application in the VM, I get all my open
applications back including the one I just launched.

Messy, but better than having part of my desktop in accessible.
