I've just install XP Pro which has SP2 all ready on it. However, Windows
Messenger is version 4.7. When I look on the Microsoft website it says to
upgrade messenger I have to install SP2 as the latest version onlt comes with
SP2. Windows update says I have SP2.
Any ideas on how I get the latest version of Messenger please.

Merry Christmas

Hi Jet,

You can d/load Windows Messenger 5.1 from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...b73-5f8c-4b9a-
940f-9157a3b3d774&DisplayLang=en

Since the above URL will probably wrap due to its length, either copy/paste
the entire URL in a browser window, or use this TinyURL:
http://tinyurl.com/4bc6d

Merry Christmas!

Thanks for your help Patti, as it happens my wife downloaded messenger
version 7.0 (Beta) today. It looks really good and has some nice new features
(Winks etc.)
Thanks again for your help.

Regards

Jet

You're welcome for the help :-)

If your wife downloaded Messenger version 7, then what you were seeking was
an update to MSN Messenger, not Windows Messenger.

Well spotted Patti, my mistake. It's a bad habbit but we refer to messenger
as Windows Messenger because it comes with Windows!! I'm sorry about the
confusion and will be more precise if I post again.

Regards

Jet

I think that referring to messenger as Windows Messenger when one actually
means MSN Messenger is a very common practice....you're certainly not alone
;-)

No problem about the confusion...........it's certainly not the first time
I've been confused, and it probably won't be the last, either :-)
