After installing SP2 for XP Pro, I have lost all sound and my modem hardware
is not being detected. Any idea what the prob is?
Just bought an MCIA modem card, trying to solve the above, but its now
telling me that the phone line is busy - Error 676.
If anyone has any solutions, they would be greatly appreciated as I've had a
bellyful with these probs. They all seem to stem from SP2.

Fred;
Install the latest Windows XP drivers for the sound card and modem.
Also verify with the manufacturer they are compatible with Windows XP SP-2.

Did you check for possible issues before installing SP-2?

Jupiter,
In reverse order, didn't check for possible issues before SP2 cos I'm not
fully up-to-speed when it comes to the maintenance - I'm learning as I go. I
generally choose the recommended default and with a Windows update I thought
it would be safe enough. It's only this w-end that I've realised that with
Auto updates on any critical updates will be installed anyway.
When it comes to the hardware issues, I tried Toshibas own site - it's
shite, by the way. I run Satellite Pro lap-top and couldn't find anything and
I never thought to check a windows site.
I'll give it a try and let you know
Cheers
