[Error number: 0x8DDD0018] This is the message I get when I try to go to
Auto-update to re-install the SP2 into my XP-Pro PC. Had browser issues at
Earthlink & "stacked" the updates from them, which were just now fixed. Tried
to solve a broken path by un-installing SP2 & now this:[Error number:
0x8DDD0018] Won't let me get updates at all. Event log, B.I.T.S., and
Automatic update will not co-operate. Help??

Make sure that you have automatic updates turned on.

What causes Error 0x8ddd0018

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;883614

You receive a "Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the
requested page" error message when you try to install an update

Hi Attilla D,

Yes, that error number does refer to a problem with BITS. You've stated that
"Event log, B.I.T.S., and Automatic update will not co-operate".......would
you be a little more specific about that, please. Do you receive any error
messages when you try to Start these services?

Regards,
