XP Pro won't load after Windows Update (can't find harddrive?)

I shutdown my computer yesterday before i left work with the windows updates
installing. When I came in this morning the updates were still "installing".
It was on the same "Do not turn off or unplug your computer. Windows will
turn off automatically" screen that I had left it on.

Anyway it finally shutdown, but now whenever I start up it says the
/windows/system32/config/system file is missing or corrupt. These are sata
drives that are recognized in the bios, but I can't access them from
winternals or anything else.

Any help would be great.
