I bought a computer from Friend of a Friend..The sysytem is custom built for
gaming.. But... It has Windows Xp Pro on it, and it is not letting me update
to SP2 due to a failed product code. I assume this is not a good copy of
XpPro.

I do have a valid Windows Xp Home disc, and would like to know If i can
install this HPHome edition over the current XPPro edition? Or Do I have to
uninstall the Windows XPpro to use the Home Edition ?

I have gaming information saved in my system, hardware drivers etc, that I
do not want to have to get back again.. doing this would take me days, time
that I do not have.

Anyone out there with some guidance on this please ?
can Email me also at ... or at
Thank you

The answer will not make you happy. There is no way you can "downgrade".
You will have to wipe and start fresh.

BTW; going online and getting the drivers from the various manufacturers
should not ever take days.
Hours, maybe...if on dial-up.
