After a recent barrage of updates it seems , both of our desktops open
every page in minimized mode and we need to manually expand them! Is there a
simple way to stop this from happening? Please. Thank you John B

Sloop John B ...

Do you mean when you open a program or browser the *window* needs to be
expanded as they are minimized ?
What happens after you expand and then close them ... do they still open
minimized ?
If yes, please list which updates were installed. The easiest way to do
that is to go to
Start > Run > copy and paste the below into the Open: line and then
click OK or press Enter

%windir%\softwaredistribution\reportingevents.log

The latest successfully installed updates are listed at the *bottom* of
the above log.

Thanx for the info but may I ask this? How do I know which one it must be as
we allow M/S to automatically apply the updates on our units so I don't know
which one may be the culprit. Our memory isn't as it once was ! Thanx John b

I already posted once how you can see which updates were just installed
succesfully. Let's see if you can find it this time <w> :

... please list which updates were installed. The easiest way to do that
is to go to
Start > Run > copy and paste the below into the Open: line and then
click OK or press Enter

%windir%\softwaredistribution\reportingevents.log

The latest successfully installed updates are listed at the *bottom* of
the above log.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: IF Run is not on the Start Menu, add it by *right* clicking the
Start Menu, choose Properties.
Click the Customize button towards the bottom of the window.
Under Advanced Start menu options, scroll down to
" Display Run " and put a check in the box next to it.
Click OK, then Apply, then OK once more.

Got it ? BTW, I'm old, too. Heck, I remember the 1952 World Series !

opens in ful screen. do this with every type of window if succesfull.
