XP service Pack 1

Loading XP service pack 1 on a dell 2400 and it toold me
it was incompatible with my operating system (XP Pro), it
then aboprted install, no big deal. Now when I try to
install Publisher 2003 it tells me a incomplete service
pack install needs to be completed before it will let me
install publisher 2003.
What can I do to install publisher 2003 on this machine?

The service pack is not in the add remove list.

I need help from anyone who might have solution.

Is the XP loaded on the system from Dell? If so, it is OEM.

The SP1 you tried to install - from Microsoft or Dell? I'm asking this
because I'm guessing that maybe Dell had their own version of SP1 and you're
trying to install the wrong one.

Check their web site.

It is XP Pro from Dell but SP 1 was from microsofts web
site.
I will try the dell site but dell tech people ddint ever
mention using their website?

No.
No one including Dell has their own version of SP1.
The only legitimate source for a Windows Service Pack is directly from
Microsoft.

Randy;
You possibly had an application such as anti virus, spyware blocker
etc that made an issue for the Service Pack.
Download the Network Installation.
Reboot.
Disable all unnecessary applications.
Install the service Pack.

Service Pack is due very soon, possibly in the next few days, but most
likely before the end of the month.
You may want to wait.

Their own Service pack:
No one does except Microsoft.
Microsoft is the only legitimate source for Service Packs.
