I've spent hours looking for xp service pack 1a. the only thing I can find
is at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...1/default.mspx

I can't find any place to download the update.

Just download and install Windows Service Pack 2, or order the CD

Windows XP SP1a is the same as Windows XP SP1 except that the Microsoft
virtual machine (VM) is removed in SP1a.
Microsoft does not recommend that you install SP1a if you are already
running SP1.

If you wish to update from SP1 get SP2.

Click on the Link that says: "Network Installation"..it will let you
download from there.
