Sounds like I have the same problem described below. I installed XP Pro SP2
and am unable to do ANY auto or manual updates since. The auto-update
feature works but fails to install time after time. I believe the problem is
BITS which "stopped" and won't start since the SP2 install. Terminal
Services and Auto Update services seem to start just fine.
My OS is Microsoft Win XP Professional 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600.
Is there a later version of SP2 I should try?
I tried the same thing below installing BITS 2.0 but it failed because its
apparently in SP2 already. Is there an easy way to start BITS? Patch?
Thanks in advance for any help!
