Since last Friday's MS update (best I can tell), I have over 20 computers
that have basically stop working. After typing the password, the system
appears to lock up and if you wait 10 minutes or so, press <CTRL><ALT<DELETE>
for task manager, the system is using 100 percent CPU utilization and the
offending process is SYSTEM!! I have spoken with several other consultants
and they are experiencing simular problems. HELP. FYI: the computers in
question are not one motherboard or processor, but they all have SP2
installed, either from original install, internet or download. We need to
get this fixed SOON. REAL SOON. Please advise, anyone?

Mike,

Do you have Trend Micro products? See this

"Mike Stout",

I am sorry you are encountering this issue. I'm not trying to be argumentative,
but are you sure the process that is pegged at 100% is SYSTEM, or the account
using that process is SYSTEM. Which process is it? What does the entire line
read?

Which update did you install? Did you install more than one? Did any of them
install just one update, so that we might narrow it down?

Please reply, and we'll look into this.

Sincerely,

Pat Walters [MSFT]
