XP sp-2 update failed.

I have sp1 installed in my machine. I trying to install sp2 form windows
update site and it is failing with the message "update were unable to
installed successfully".
Kindly guide me why it is faling and what I need to do to correct it.
Is there any article which talk about the possible reason for the failure.
