Hi,
I've tried installing SP2 3 times and keep having the same problem. It
tries to copy the sprmr.dll file and then fails. It will not ignore.
This .dll is described as belonging to Win server 2003 and MSBS 2003.
It's not normally on my drive except when it appears in the
softwaredistribution folder and the servicepack files folder during
the install. I've done all check list items in preparation of SP2 and
still this persists. I tried the network version from my HDD and the
install from windowsupdate. Both failed with same problem. The error
I got at WU was 80070078B failed syntex or file name etc...

Any ideas how to get this fixed? TIA!

i wonder if ther'es a WU log?

and, maybe ,as in office updates, win installer has a command-line option that tells the
logging to be more 'verbose'?

Try a search?

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...e-f14a2bf71be0

(Search for
spgrmr
)

This shows that you should look in your svcpack.log for specific
details about your problem and also gives you the tip to use the
resolution actions given by KB873148.

BTW please be more careful with your typing.
There are several typos in what you have given us.
For example, I have no idea what the error code you really have
will be.

That did it, thanks! I found the problem in the log and corrected the
file copy error by creating the folder in the Win dir that was missing
for whatever reason. The install completed and all is well so far.
