I am running XP Home Edition, have cable broadband
internet, and have the windows update feature set to
notify me when updates become available for download. A
couple of days ago I got a balloon message and
the "windows update" icon in my system tray saying that
SP2 was available for download and clicked the download
button. The "downloading updates" icon then appeared in
the system tray as usual and gave a balloon message
saying "downloading updates 0%" but then just
disappeared. I never did get SP2. This is the first time
I have had a problem with an update. When I go to the
windows update site they advise me to install SP2 but it
is only available through the automatic update feature
which I have turned on. I haven't received another
notification on SP2 and am wondering if windows update
thinks I have already installed it. My computer is always
on so there is no problem with the internet connection,
and after a couple of days now, I am wondering if you can
advise me... --Thanks, Rick S.

Since you have Broadband, just download the full version, save it to a
folder you create called SP2, and click install.

Joe727, I have looked at this download page a number of times, is this the
final version or a Beta version of SP2. The MS SP2 Disk Order site
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...s/default.mspx
is not taking orders yet.
