It appears that the two registry entries that will affect the retry of a
download are:
HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/WindowsUpadte/Auto
Update/DownlaodExpirationTime [and same path] NextDetectionTime.
After I changed the expiration time to the past and the next detection to
the near future, I exit regedit and restarted the Automatic Updates Service
through services.msc. This did not work. The registry entries were changed
to a future date and time. I countinue to retry, with no joy. I believe
that it may have something to do with the Microsoft response to the query in
the key: [same path] ODFFileURL [set to]
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/odf/wuodf.xml. When I paste this into
IE address line, I get this response:
- <OperationalDirectives>
<DownloadRegulation AcceptanceRate="100" />
</OperationalDirectives>
I am assuming the this response is keeping my downlaod at check.
If anyone figures out all of the rest of the registry entries in this path
-- which I am assuming were placed there by the new Windows Update v5, please
post them.
