I have attempted to install sp2 and the install wizard does not start. I get
the "I accept", iniallizing install, then congrats your computer is updated.
It does not go through the install process at all. No "Do you want to
rebbot?" I check the version and I am still at sp1. I redo updates and
again says I need sp2. I have tryed downloading the exe and it extracts but
again no install process, and still at sp1. I have restored back to last
week improvement.
Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi

Some log files you can check for any clues or error messages:

%windir%\Svcpack.log
%windir%\setupapi.log

(%windir% is typically C:\Windows)

You could also post the last 20-30 lines from the log files here.

If the log files doesn't say anything "solid", you can enable Verbose
logging, try to install SP2 again and look at setupapi.log if SP2
fails again.

More about this under the "Access denied" section here:

Also, before installing SP2, you should take a look at the
following sites:

Hi

I could only find one reference to extended error code = 0xf201:
http://groups.google.com/groups?as_q...ng=d&lr=&hl=en

No help there, I'm afraid.

What about %windir%\setupapi.log, did you find anything there?

You might need to enable Verbose logging (see my first post).
