XP SP2 InStallation Access Denied

I have tried 3 times to install the Windows Xp Sp2,once by disc and twice by
internet but everytime it gets to updating registry keys during installation
I get a "access denied" message. What is blocking the installation? Please
some one help . I am running windows xp but I don't know what could be
blocking the registry keys to update. Thank You for your help n advance.

Service Pack 2
