I'm able to upgrade my systems to XP Home SP2 with no
problem but after installing I have to boot into "Safe
Mode With Networking" because "Start Windows Normally" or
from "Last Known Good Configuration" take me in a loop
back to the same screen. Here are the details:
· I upgraded my laptop & desktop to XP SP2
- neither would boot normally after installation
- had to go to "safe mode with networking"
· Tried to get into the system by performing a System
Restore from safe mode, Selected the last Restore Point
which was named "Installed Windows XP Service Pack 2)
- After the System Restore it booted ok but I was back
to SP1.
· Uninstalled SP2 on both computers by going to add/remove
programs.
- The computers functioned ok although the laptop
seems slower.
Installed SP2 again on the desktop
- Had the EZ Armor antivirus software shut down but
that didn't help -- same results.
A week ago I successfully upgraded my son's laptop and
desktop which are pretty much the same setup as mine (he
lives in another city but both computers are connected to
a 4 port router) with no problems.
