xp sp2 nightmare

I installed sp2 about 2 weeks ago and everything was fine for one day. Then
my computer went absolutely crazy, slowing down, completely freezing,
crashing, telling me my firewall wasn´t on when it was...After a week of hell
I phoned my operators helpdesk, before I even said anything he asked if I´d
downloaded sp2, saying he´d been getting calls bout it all day... He told me
to uninstall it, I did and now everythings fine. Except now I get messages
all the time telling me to install it again... What if I don´t ? What if I
do? Why is Windows offering updates that dont work? They ARE supposed to work
aren´t they..!?

SP-2 does work on the majority of computers.
If the tech is telling you to uninstall SP-2 knowing no more than you
installed SP-2, then the tech is incompetent and/or lazy.
Most problems are simple reconfigurations necessitated because of the
added security of SP-2.
Others are fixed by patches or updates from the hardware or software
manufacturers.
It is easier fort the tech to have you uninstall then help you to fix
the problems.
