XP SP2 unbootable

I have just upgraded 50 desktops. All but one went fine. One threw an
exception during the updating, but kept going (unfortunately, I missed
writing the exception down, bad me). NOW, the computer won't boot into
windows. I have run all sorts of hardware diagnostics with no problems
showing.

When I try to boot in safe mode, it starts through the cycle before stalling
right after it prints a line referring to "drivers/gernuwa.sys" - a symantec
driver.

I am assuming it has either barfed on this driver or the driver after. Any
thoughts out there?

Thanks,
Cameron

gernuwa.sys registry cleanup on reboot
pcAnywhere 10.0 file descriptions
Could be that driver ,you could rename or replace it using recovery console.

File replacement

As you say it could be stalling on the next driver that you can't see.

I would contact symantec if you have pcAnywhere on that computer it could be
one of those software not compatible with sp2.

Best way to install sp2 is in clean boot. you just can't make a mistake with
this.

I will try this one today. Just now reading the description of the
Gernuwa.sys problem I find an exact match. Constant rebooting with check
disk wanting to run everytime.

Thanks, I will confirm if this works.

Peace,
Cameron
