xp sp2 wont reboot to complete installation

I have a foxconn motherboard with an AMD athlon 64 processor, the problem is
when i am asked to reboot to complete the installation of sp2 it only goes as
far as the screen allowing me to install in safe mode etc. I have downloaded
and installed the latest Bios, and all of the windows updates prior to trying
to install the sp2 package. What could be wrong...
The problem seems to be the same as the prescott cpu issue but surely this
would not affect an amd chip, anyways i tried installing the patch to fix
that but it still dont work.
help please, life is to short to be spending this time stressing out over
windows..

I doubt the Chinese will support 64-bit beta Windows XP,
and I kind of doubt Microsoft will, so try an appropriate group.
