Not sure if I have a SP 2 Prob or Firewall incomp prob. Loaded Zone Alarm
Firewall, several days later loaded SP2. Now I cannot get past Start. Any
suggestions on how to restore functionality? Loaded both via ISP. No CD's
available at this time. Data files are backed up.

George, on next Startup tap F8 repeatedly until you get a Menu. Select
Safe Mode and if it boots Ok go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System
Tools>System Restore. Try a restore before you loaded SP2.

Rich - have tried this and unable to get to Safe Mode. 'Repeatedly' hit F8
for some 10 mins. No changes. Any other way to safe mode?

George
You need to start hitting the F8 key while the system is still in POST - the
b/w startup screen.
you could also try holding down the CTRL key from early in the boot process
(if you can't get the F8 timing right - it can be tricky on faster
machines!)
