XP sp3 Causes restarts

i installed sp3 and restarted my pc as normal, but now it restarts itself
even before the windows logo appears and i am forced to load up in safe mode.
ive tried a full system resrore twice and updated from scratch, but the
problem repeats itself. i cant do any further updating in safe mode. im
really stuck. Can anyone help out please.

Some other possible workarounds:

• Boot into Safe Mode and rename INTELPMM.SYS to INTELPMM.OLD.

• After booting into Safe Mode:

Start | Run | (copy/paste) sc config intelppm start= disabled | OK | Reboot
into normal (Windows) mode.

If you have a HP computer with an AMD processor, you need to get the patch
from Hp.com.

Here is a link for HP xp sp3 error, there is a downloadable fix so you dont
have to do it yourself. they say to install it before you instsll sp3.
