I have 5 computers and the two I have tried to install updates just sit there
checking for updates and it seems that thry get hung on Microsoft Update
site. I have been watching the enormous amounts of posts here and I am not
really sure what my next move is to get my systems up-to-date.

For a fix to this problem, please do BOTH of the following:

1. (not for Vista) Download and install update KB927891 version 3:
<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927891>
and then restart Windows.

2. For 32-bit systems, download and save to hard disk, and then install:
<http://download.windowsupdate.com/v7/windowsupdate/redist/standalone/WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe>

If this produces an error message about "Update agent already
installed", then execute the installer again manually, with parameter
/wuforce as in (at a comand prompt window):

WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe /wuforce

Then visit Microsoft Update again, and report back whether your problem is
fixed.

Sorry about the blank post a moment ago.

I was about to say the problem for me had not gone away, but the checking
process completed after about 5 minutes so I guess I have no problem after
all and that the information here did solve my problem.

Thank you.
