XP Updates say Install but, do not register...

When I go to Update it tells me I have "x" number of intalls..and it will
take 0mins. to install. The problem is I have already installed these updates
and have gotten confirmation that they were installed and are on my
installation history..but EVERY time I go to updates to check it still shows
all of these as needing to be installed. Any help would be greatful!
