I have two laptops, a HP Pavilion/XP/3 and a Toshiba/Vista/3. I wish
to Transfer some data files from the XP to the Vista using the
Transfer function in Vista. There are several techniques for doing
this. I wish to use a stand alone hard drive.

My question: If I use the Vista Transfer function will I lose any data
on the XP when I use Transfer?

Many thanks,

Peter.

No. The transfer makes a copy of your files and settings and does not
remove them from the Windows XP computer.

That would be the easiest and safest.

Why not just use a USB Flash Drive to move Data?

And if you are moving Office files, or any particular Program files, make
sure that that Progeram is also installed on Vista.

If not, you will not be able to read the files.
