I will be upgrading to vista ultimate from xp pro. I understand there is a
program
that will determine whether or not my current applications will run in the
new vista enviroment. Does anyone know what it is called?

How to determine whether there are program-compatibility issues before you
install Windows Vista: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931359/

Download and run the free Microsoft Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor at

Don't do it! No reason to. Keep the XP until a real software company
developes something else that has been completely tested before it is
released and doesn't depend upon the paying customers to test their
software.

Why doesn't Microsoft just supply a list of progs and versions that work
along with their OS? They have plenty of money and plenty of little nerds
working for the company to do the job and keep the list updated daily.

You guys with your MS bribed* shilling never stop toting the party line do
ya?
That "Upgrade Advisor" is severely flawed, to the point of being useless -
about as useful as MS's own HCL (Hardware Compatibility List)
They're marketing tools, nothing more - designed to part you from your $$.

I remember when I first trusted them, was told by these tools that "all's
well" - only to find out later that several pieces of hardware were bricked,
including a printer, a card reader, my brand new video card and a modem.

I was even told right here by an MVP that "Microsoft never guaranteed your
hardware would work RIGHT NOW, but that it MIGHT WORK LATER"
LMAO, nice try though...

Makes about as much sense as Microsoft's own (see a pattern here?) software
compatibility lists; the "Certified for Windows Vista" list and then there's
the "Works with Vista List"
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/winlogo/WLP30program.mspx

Why two lists and what's the difference between them?
Easy - one suggests your applications -should- work with Vista while the
other only implies they -might-.
Neither guarantees ANYTHING.

Confused yet?
Good, that's what Microsoft wants.

Buyer beware.

Moving up in the world I see. Used to be a sheep fukker, now you've moved on
to goats. bahbabababa...LOL! Keep working there Francine. Next, after
you've practised with those anal beads, you can take a drive in your
Mercedes, south of the border, and get into one of those donkey shows. I'm
sure that your butt-buddies have got you stretched out enough by now.
