Please explain exactly what you mean by "it didn't work". What errors were
seen?

I have the same problem with the windows update, the same problem/error code
appears while using windows defender on my XP ;-( hope someone got an idea
how to fix...

I have this problem also, tried the command, and the command prompt replied
"access denied".

Still haven't gotten an answer.

If you are see 0x80245003 error, can you please send
C:\windows\windowsupdate.log from the machine?

To resolve the issue, I recommend that you contact Microsoft support by
following the steps in

There is no charge for support issues with Windows Update.
It would be great if you can post back to the newsgroup about how the issue
was resolved.

Well, you don't tell us what operating system you have, but I guess you must
be talking about Vista. In that case, you have to launch the Windows
command prompt window with Administrator rights..
