? XPS files

When reading about .xps files and printing quality, it seems to imply that
these files and their processes print at a very high quality. If so, would
using XPS printing be the best way to get highest quality in usual printing
tasks such as photos and documents? Would it enhance printing quality in any
way to switch photo formats to XPS, then print?

Likely not since the issue is output quality. If your printer can only do
600 dpi printing, then it doesn't matter if the source is formatted at
600dpi or 1200dpi or whatever - the printer will print it at 600dpi. The
intermediate quality doesn't matter as long as it exceeds the printer's
capabilities.
