Find a competent tech who will put your computer safety and security
before his convenience.
The techs statement about SP-2 is way to broad.
Properly preparing the computer goes a long way to preventing problems
but nothing can guarantee success.
Since there is a large number of Windows XP computers in the world and
no two are identical it is impossible to guarantee success on all of
them.
There is no software problem that should cost $200, and no hardware
failures are caused by SP-2.
Proper back-ups can leave the option of rebuilding Windows available
and should cost far less than what you paid.
Next time you have computer problems, find a competent tech that is
interested in more than just your money.
