I'm in the exact same boat. I've used my Yahoo email address as my .Net
Passport/MSN/Windows Messenger login for years. The problem is worse now
though. You now recieve the following message from
Windows Live(TM) Messenger Service Staff says:
Important service announcement: Because of a recent system update, you must
change the e-mail address that you use to sign in to Windows Live(TM)
Messenger. Until you change your e-mail address, you won't be able to use
Windows Live(TM) Messenger.
To change your e-mail address and find out more about this system update, go
to
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/Messenger/en
The link they give isn't even a valid link. Others never see me as online
and then it kicks you out. I did find that I can log into
webmessenger.msn.com with my Yahoo account and send messages to other
messenger users. MSN/Windows Messenger users that don't already have you
added to their contact list cannot add your new yahoo.com based
Passport/Windows Live account.
I definately hope Microsoft can get this resolved as I have always used my
Yahoo account for Windows/MSN/Live Messenger and all of my contacts have me
listed that way. It would be a major deal to have to get all of those people
to re-add me with a new account.
