Have Live Mess. installed and can talk(chat) with my son no problem but my
daughter can only use Yahoo! at work. I can talk to both using Yahoo! but
cannot talk with her using WLM.

Any suggestion please,

thanks,

Greetings,

What exactly happens when you try? Just so we're on the same page, when you add a Yahoo
contact, you have to add them as in Messenger.

Alternatively you can just download and install Yahoo Messenger yourself
(http://messenger.yahoo.com) and make your own Yahoo ID. It's more reliable then the Yahoo
functionality within Live Messenger and you'll gain the full functionality of the real client
(like file transfer). Yahoo Messenger will not interfere with Live Messenger.

I can add my daughter, no problem, but she is shown as not connected/online
when I know she is.
She can only use Yahoo! because of work constraint and my son, who is using
WLM, has the same problem at his work.

I can actually talk/chat with both of them on Yahoo! but I like WLM and I'm
trying to get it to accept and recognize my daughter.
I've read that both IM's must be updated version. She's still running Yahoo!
7.0 which may be the problem or it may be her server at work. Who knows.

Like I stated, yahoo! can find my son so I could use Yahoo! but I'm trying
to figure WLM out.

update;
Last night I could talk/chat with my daughter on my grandson's laptop from
home using WLM.
He has yahoo! 8.0 and an older version of MSM Mess. loaded on his system.
Strang thing is she was only logged into her yahoo mail account and not
messenger of either type.

I'm down to thinking it's her server or her older version of yahoo!(7.0).
Again, somewhere I read that since she can only use yahoo!, she has an older
version of it (7.0), both version have to be updated. Not sure if this has
anything to do with the problem or not.

thoughts please,

Hi,

Yes this is correct, the Yahoo user must be using at least 8.0 for this to work.

As I already said, just use Yahoo Messenger.

Ok, but I don't want to use YAHOO MESSENGER. What's the since of telling me
I can talk with Yahoo users on WLM if I can't talk to them. It use to work,
in fact just 3 days ago it was working....for the last 2 days, it has
stopped. Nothing has changed on my computer, so my guess it's the services
between WLM and YAHOO.

Here is the weird thing about it. I can RECEIVE messages from YAHOO people,
they just receive my response or my messages. Other thing, they can see when
I log on and off from WLM. You tell me. What gives. Also, notice that WLM
to WLM, some messages get lost. I would saw, 1 in 5 messages I send with WLM
2009 get lost and I have to re-type it.

First, I don't want Yahoo on my machine. One Instant Messenger that displays
advertisement is enough.
Second, MS and WLM state you can chat with YAHOO accounts.

With that said. For the last 2 days, I have been unable to chat with Yahoo
users. Just 3 days ago, it was working, but now, nothing.

Also, noticed, that when chatting WLM to WLM, messages are getting lost. I
would as 1 in 5...sometimes in groups. I never had messages lost with MSN
messenger or Microsoft Messenger.
