I couldn't get multiply tabs in IE7 so I deleted the Google tool bar which
didn't help and then I deleted the Yahoo tool bar and that did it so now I
can get multiple tabs in IE7.

Interesting, do you know what version of the Yahoo toolbar you were using?

Also, what OS?
