I do not ask questions here about accessing MS Update or downloading the
updates. Why? Because I use Shavlik for that.
I am entitled to ask questions here in the event an update causes problems.
Why? Because the updates are identical, regardless of the source.
Now please calm down, and don't take it personally. I don't hate Microsoft,
or anybody here. But Microsoft's WGA, and the underhanded way they lured
users into installing it, offends me. I paid good money for my software,
and there is no reason for MS or anybody else to treat me like a thief.
That, and that alone, is the reason I have started using Shavlik for the
updates.
I stand by my experience -- that too often, poorly crafted updates have
wreaked havoc with my computer. I read this group and elsewhere, and try to
be as sure as I can that an update isn't going to wreck my computer again.
Only then do I download and install.
Perhaps you can explain more fully the reasons for your apparent anger.
